Info about the project

Cerebral visual impairment is a disorder caused not by problems with the eyes, but by damage to the parts of the brain that process vision. It is most common in babies and young children, but can continue into adulthood.

The CVI project gathered experiences and expertise on cerebral visual impairment and developed tools and protocols to improve support for children with this condition. These included:

  • A methodology for the multidisciplinary evaluation of visual impairments of the brain

  • An observation tool for the family and loved ones

  • An individual “passport" to describe the effects of CVI on the child in its daily life

  • A tool to help those around them to better understand the children.
