International knowledge development and innovation
Organizations in other countries in Europe and elsewhere provide similar types of services to Visio - and face similar challenges. We can learn a lot from each other and benefit from each other’s experience.
We do this through networks, projects, conferences and joint research activities. We also interact directly with individual organisations. That helps us build better services for the blind and visually impaired in the Netherlands and throughout the world.
Our International Knowledge Development and Innovation programme coordinates this work. Collaboration enables colleagues from throughout Visio to contribute their knowledge and skills and further develop their own expertise.
International projects
Our international projects focus mostly on knowledge exchange and innovation. They serve as platforms for educators and professionals from different backgrounds to work together, share ideas, and foster a deeper understanding of common challenges related to visual impairment.
Most projects are funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme. We work with academic partners on research programmes funded through the EU’s Marie Curie initiative. We also engage with other funding programmes to broaden our reach and impact.
These initiatives underscore our commitment to creating a more interconnected world and working together to benefit people with visual impairments.
International networks
Visio is engaged in many international networks in Europe and worldwide. These networks enable us to share our experience and to acquire new knowledge about various aspects of visual impairment.
International conferences
Visio employees have the opportunity to gain and share knowledge by taking part in professional international conferences, workshops, seminars and other events. See a list of relevant recurring conferences below.
Visio also hosts or co-hosts international conferences. In 2017 we hosted the Vision conference in The Hague, and in 2025 together with other Dutch partners, we will host the Tactile Reading Conference
