"We all have disabilities, but the ability is there. It is the ability to create possibilities and opportunities."
With this statement, ‘The Light in My Eyes’ Visio International film was announced as the winner of the Special Jury Award in the Films with Impact Competition at the International Women Film Festival in Aswan. Film director Mohanad Diab accepted the award and stated:
“There is a profound sense of joy in being able to amplify the voices of VIPs worldwide, emphasizing that they are not superheroes but rather very ordinary people. They simply want to live their lives to become independent.”
A week later, in the presence of the Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine Riad El-Kabbag, the film was presented at the Arab School of Cinema and Television in Cairo, followed by an engaging symposium. During this memorable event, the trophy was proudly handed over to Els de Keijzer, producer of the film.
For Mohanad, it was a double celebration as he also won the ‘Voices Against Child Labour Media Competition’ this week. His impactful storytelling is opening eyes and inspiring action across the globe. It was an honour to work with him!
Note: The film will be publicly released at the end of 2024; additional festivals will follow this year. You can find the teaser here: https://lnkd.in/ew6qqStp
