The light in my eyes

Worldwide, more than 1 billion people have moderate or severe visual impairment. They have similar desires, dreams and challenges in life to everyone else - with the difference that they have a visual impairment. That’s why awareness is so important.

Visio International teamed up with Egyptian film director Mohanad Diab and local film crews to portray the opportunities and challenges of children, youngsters and young adults with a visual impairment in Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Uganda, the West Bank, South Africa and the Netherlands. The message is: Participation is possible!

We are very proud that the film “The light in my eyes” was selected for screening at:

  • The 2023 Ibadan International Film Festival in Nigeria, took place from 21 to 23 September 2023.
  • The 12th Tangier Film Festival in Morocco, took place from 8 to 11 November 2023. Jury report: The film "The Light in My Eyes" successfully blends entertainment and enlightenment, turning a global journey through seven countries into a compelling adventure. The focus on individuals who have lost their sight sheds light on their daily struggles, aiming to raise awareness about the significance of this issue. Film director Mohanad Diab received special recognition at the Tangier Film Festival for his work on this impactful film. 

Ideal opportunities to share the inspiring stories of Priscilla, Junior, Claire, Shareehan, Omar, Ohnenkosi and Micky with a worldwide audience.
