Itinerant teachers at regular schools
By deploying itinerant educational support at regular schools, Visio makes it possible for a blind or partially sighted child to attend a regular school together with their neighbourhood friends. This way, the child can attend school in a familiar environment, can build their own circle of friends close to home and gradually learn to go to school independently.
The basic principle is always: Ordinary if possible, special when needed.
Visio education provided itinerant support for pupils from the age of four to at least twenty years, in primary school, special education systems, in all types of senior secondary (vocational) education and if necessary at the beginning of bachelor or master studies.
Support
An itinerant teacher supports a students with a visual impairment to participate in the best possible way in the regular school system.
They offer advice to the regular teachers about suitable learning environment for school, classroom and practical lessons and the adaptation of teaching materials. And inform the school, parents/care takers and fellow students about the practical consequences of the visual impairment. They also support and advice with assistive ware and certain skills / techniques such as reading and writing (in braille). Thanks to guidelines, counselling and the acquired skills, the pupil can attend regular education together with their sighted classmates.
